You will find a signpost near Pico da Fonte do Bispo indicating "Galhano" near the junction between the roads from Paul da Serra. This is the starting point of Vereda do Galhano, a lengthy hike hidden within the Laurissilva forest. There are a few factors to consider before setting out. In addition to the remoteness of this walk, keep in mind the steepness of the slopes, the length of the walk and the number of tunnels on the levada. We recommend you take a powerful torch, walking poles and waterproof clothing and footwear as even during the height of summer, water is a constant feature.
The hike starts roughly at 1250 metres altitude on a wide dirt road about X kilometres away from the levada. Beautiful Tree Heathers typical at this altitude, embellish the path during several metres and the Atlantic Ocean takes its place in the background contrasting with the shades of green.
